Smart Energy Systems

Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)

About the Program

Driven by the energy transition, the energy industry is currently undergoing a major change. The share of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics or wind power is growing steadily, allowing consumers to generate energy rather than only consuming it. The increasing decentralisation of plants and the increased volatility of energy production make intelligent networking necessary. The Master's degree programme Smart Energy Systems (SES) is international and English-language. Students learn about different producer and consumer technologies in modern, decentralised energy grids, with particular focus on the exchange of information between participants and the resulting interaction of the overall system. Knowledge from artificial intelligence (AI), optimisation, and information and communication technology for secure data exchange is taught. Graduates acquire knowledge about the design, operation and optimisation of intelligent, decentralised energy systems through innovative and digital technologies, making them ideal specialists and managers in energy production, real estate, building technology, automotive industry, or energy-intensive industries.
