About the Program

Social Work is oriented towards the principles of the democratic social constitutional state. Human dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity form the foundation of values. The Basic Law and the United Nations Convention on Human Rights form the basis of its professional actions. Social Work is commissioned with the goal of shaping a social society. Social disadvantages are to be remedied and, at best, prevented preventively with social welfare benefits, educational and leisure activities, and political influence. Social workers support, promote and accompany people of all social backgrounds and age groups who are threatened or affected by an emergency situation. The Bachelor's program in Social Work provides students with scientifically based and interdisciplinary theoretical and practical knowledge - including from the reference sciences of law, psychology, pedagogy and medicine. Professional ethical, social law, pedagogical and methodological competencies are taught.
