About the Program

In the Bachelor's program 'Social Work', students acquire professional knowledge, skills, and methods that enable them to work scientifically, critically classify scientific findings, and act responsibly and professionally in social work, taking into account social changes and the requirements of the professional world. The program also imparts interdisciplinary key qualifications. The program consists of 16 modules covering areas such as social work as a profession, educational science, sociology, social policy, administrative sciences, law, psychology and social medicine, research methods, and practical training. After completing the Bachelor's degree, students are awarded the title of 'Bachelor of Arts'. The University of Duisburg-Essen grants state recognition after one year of professional practice following the Bachelor's degree.
