About the Program

The aim of the consecutive, application-oriented Master's degree programme in Social Work: Clinical Social Work is to provide students with specific qualifications for professional work in health-related social work. The Master's in Clinical Social Work teaches relevant knowledge and skills for later practical and academic work in the broad field of health-related social work. Clinical means "treating", i.e. working therapeutically or socio-therapeutically. This term does not (only) refer to inpatient settings, but to a very wide variety of settings and areas of application. Important contents are the topics: Diagnostics, motivational work, shaping relationships, conducting conversations, working with difficult clients, etc. Students will also acquire research skills (qualitative and quantitative social research), leadership skills and networking skills. Clinical social work covers a wide range of areas such as psychiatry, therapy facilities, child and youth welfare, trauma management, victim-offender support, addiction counselling, re-socialisation and care for the elderly.
