About the Program
"BASA-online" is the first undergraduate distance learning course in the field of Social Work for working professionals. The part-time online Bachelor's degree program in Social Work at ASH Berlin consistently relies on the use of new media as a learning and teaching medium. Special features include: enabling students to study largely independently of time and place while working, integrating reflection on professional activity, using multimedia teaching and learning technology, and emphasizing self-directed learning. The course is fully modularized, comprising 17 online modules (O1-O17), 8 attendance modules (P1-P8), practical work experience (2 phases), Bachelor's thesis and colloquium. The modules cover fundamentals of social work, legal and socio-political foundations, and humanities as well as human and social science foundations. Students can choose specializations in areas such as social work with children and young people, rehabilitation, elderly care, education, delinquency, diversity, public social administration, migration and flight, or sports social work. The program is offered by a consortium of nine universities (Hochschulverbund BASA-online) including Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin, Hochschule Emden/Leer, Hochschule Fulda, Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Kiel, Hochschule Koblenz, Hochschule München, FH Münster, FH Potsdam, and Hochschule RheinMain.
