About the Program

The Master's program in Sociology offers a research-oriented and 'general sociological' MA program. The program allows students to design a research-oriented MA study with their own focus areas and specializations, alongside mandatory core modules. At the core of the program are training in quantitative and qualitative methods of sociological research, as well as seminars in philosophy of science and research-oriented theory development. The two-semester teaching research project and the research internship provide initial experiences with independent research and insights into scientific project work. The supplementary and advanced modules offer the opportunity for individual specialization and profile development. A central goal of the education is to enable independent empirical analysis and practical application of scientific knowledge.
