About the Program

The compact Social Work program (BASA kompakt) facilitates the study of Social Work for people with family, professional and/or care responsibilities. The in-person classes take place exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays. The increased proportion of self-study is supported by partially asynchronous online teaching. The program aims to enable students to act professionally in Social Work fields through practice-oriented teaching on a scientific basis. Social Work involves working with and for children and families, with people who are sick, poor or disabled, and with people who are disadvantaged or discriminated against. Social workers plan, organize and manage social support, advise and accompany people, or work in research on social issues. The study program provides scientifically based knowledge from Social Work and other relevant disciplines such as law, ethics, psychology, political science, and sociology.
