About the Program

The Spanish studies program aims to enable students to conduct methodologically and substantively sound analyses of the language, literature, and culture of Spain and the Spanish-speaking world. Students receive the necessary tools to competently meet future challenges as Spanish teachers. The program focuses on language, literature, and cultural studies, with good language skills and interest in cultural phenomena being prerequisites for academic engagement. The program includes linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, language practice, and subject didactics. A three-month study abroad period in a Spanish-speaking country is required. The program offers personal support from professors and tutors, diverse study combinations (Spanish can be studied alongside French or combined with other subjects), and partnerships with universities in Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo, and Murcia for integrated study abroad opportunities.
