About the Program

The Master program "Study of Religions" grants reflected access to the complexity of religious phenomena in the past and present, in various socio-cultural contexts. The objective is to analyze the role and function of religions for individual living environments and collective affiliation, and their importance for local and global conflict situations. The program enables specialization in religious cultures of Europe and Asia, and in Islamic cultures. Possible areas of specialization include religious contemporary culture and the history and present of Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism. Individualized specialization and acquisition of necessary language skills are possible through minor subject selection in disciplines such as Islamic studies, Indology/Tibetology, social and cultural studies, as well as study options at the Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies.
