About the Program

Primary school children should learn to understand their own living environment. In addition, general knowledge teaching teaches them the skills to actively participate in shaping it. In the teacher training course for elementary school (L1), the subject teaching sub-course focuses on scientific, technical, social science, historical and geographical facts and their age-appropriate didactic teaching. Prospective teachers of general studies deal with physics, chemistry and biology, technical elementary education, politics, history and geography during their studies. Subject-related teaching and learning is the focus of the two available perspectives - social, scientific or technical. A practical semester at school is compulsory. Subject teaching is jointly supported by various departments at the University of Kassel (01, 05, 10).
