About the Program

The Master's degree programme Sustainable Transition is the first fully online degree programme at Justus Liebig University Giessen, offered by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management (Faculty 09). This program focuses on understanding development and transition processes, initiating social and technological change to make economic activities more sustainable, with special emphasis on sustainable agricultural and food systems. Students analyze the concept of sustainability through different disciplines, comprehend various areas of transition (economic, legal, political, social, agricultural, environmental), gain knowledge and analytical competences in methods to enhance transition processes, and develop skills in evaluating transition processes from a sustainability perspective.
