About the Program

Established in 1998, this international and collaborative two-year MA program focuses on contemporary Europe and the transatlantic relationship. Students learn about EU institutions, European integration, and comparative politics. They focus on the pressing issues Europe faces today such as security, immigration, climate change, and economic disparity. TAM educates students by way of classroom and experiential learning environments. The program trains individuals in the methods of social-science critical inquiry and cultural adaptability. The program offers two degree paths: a Dual Degree where students receive one degree in Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and one degree from a partner university, with the opportunity to specialize in climate policy; and a Single-degree Alternative where students receive one degree in Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill, spending at least one semester at UNC-Chapel Hill and up to three semesters abroad at one or more European partner sites, with the option of specializing in German-Turkish Studies. The program has 7 partner sites: Barcelona, Bath, Berlin, Bremen, Gothenburg, Grenoble, and Siena.
