Merz Akademie is a state-recognized Hochschule for Design, Art, and Media, located in Kulturpark Berg in Stuttgart-Ost since 1985. Its roots trace back to the "Freie Akademie für Erkennen und Gestalten," an institution founded in 1918 by the reformist educator Albrecht Leo Merz. The institution received state recognition in 1985 under the direction of Markus Merz.
