About the Program

The Bachelor's degree course in Art History teaches the diversity and breadth of art history. Students acquire basic skills in dealing with the methods of art studies and art history, and expand their knowledge through the practical orientation of the course. The program begins with knowledge of epochs and developmental history of art, methods for analyzing works, and the basics of academic work through introductory and foundation modules. Later, students can concentrate on individually chosen thematic focuses including painting from the 15th to 19th centuries, central questions of art theory and aesthetics, the development of fine art in the 20th and 21st centuries, and modern art and museum history. The program includes seminars, lectures, excursions to museums, and interdisciplinary project seminars. An 8-week internship or workshop project at the art academy is required. This is a combined Bachelor's degree where Art History is studied as the main subject along with a minor subject.
