Biochemie

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

Biochemistry deals with the molecular foundations of life processes and their systematic and quantitative analysis. The program explores questions like: How are the basic biological building blocks composed? What influence do these have on metabolism? What types of molecular machines play a role in the interaction and communication between cells and tissues? To understand these complex relationships of life at the cellular and molecular level, a comprehensive understanding of the "classical" subjects of chemistry, biology, physics, and medicine is essential. The Bachelor's program provides solid training in the basic sciences (chemistry, physics, and mathematics) and in important areas of life sciences (biochemistry, structural biology, cell biology, and molecular biology). The first subject specialization is possible from the fourth semester. The Master's program spans four semesters. During the first two semesters, courses can be chosen from two core areas and one elective area. The third semester is research-oriented and serves to deepen practical knowledge through laboratory internships, external internships, or internships abroad. In the fourth semester, the master's thesis is completed.
