Chemie

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

Chemistry is the branch of science concerned with the properties of elements and compounds, as well as the transformation of one substance into another. It makes predictions about hitherto unknown compounds, provides methods for the synthesis of new compounds as well as measuring techniques for the analysis of the chemical composition of unknown samples. The structure and composition of substances determines their chemical and physical properties and hence makes chemistry such an extensive field. The full-time chemistry course ending in Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) provides a sound experimental and theoretical training across the entire range of classical subdivisions of chemistry (inorganic, analytical, organic and physical chemistry), as well as in biochemistry, theoretical chemistry and – a local speciality – in marine chemistry.
