Chemistry with Focus on Economics

About the Program

The focus of this program is 80% on chemistry including natural sciences and 20% on economics. The Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a focus on Economics forms the basis for the Master's program in Business Chemistry at RPTU. The first two semesters include modules on general chemistry, experimental chemistry, mathematics and physics, as well as the basics of main group element chemistry, hydrocarbon chemistry, thermodynamics, electrochemistry and kinetics. Laboratory training begins in the first semester. The third semester covers fundamentals of organic chemical reactivity, quantum mechanics and chemical analytics, as well as a physical-chemical practical course. From the fourth semester onwards, the basics of aromatic and heterocyclic chemistry, coordination chemistry, statistical thermodynamics and spectroscopy are taught. The last third of the bachelor's program includes the second synthesis practical course, an elective module for specialization and basics in technical chemistry. The bachelor's thesis in chemistry concludes the program. In the economics part, students first deal with the basics of business administration as well as the basics of accounting and finance. Afterwards, individual profiling is possible in areas such as production, marketing management, investments and financial management, leadership fundamentals, strategy and technology, management science and information systems.
