Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The Computing in Science Bachelor's program focuses on the development and application of computer-based methods in the context of natural sciences. The use of computers for scientific purposes is of great importance in many natural sciences. Experiments and their evaluation are now carried out with computer support in many areas, e.g., in Life Science or Physics. Computer-supported prediction and simulation methods will also play a central role in chemistry, meteorology, and nanotechnology in the future. The program covers the areas of computer science, mathematics, a natural science major subject, and scientific informatics. Students acquire initial professional qualifications and knowledge with extensive theoretical foundations as well as methodological knowledge and skills. It imparts the ability to independently apply techniques and concepts of mathematics and computer science and enables students to act responsibly, especially with regard to the effects of technological change. The program is aimed at students interested in interdisciplinary studies and provides an ideal foundation for further studies and activities in the field of applied computer science with a focus on natural science and technology.
