About the Program

The cosmetology course at Osnabrück University is unique in Germany. It is designed to be interdisciplinary and includes courses in basic scientific and medical subjects such as subject-specific chemistry, biochemistry of the skin, chemistry of cosmetics, microbiology of skin physiology, dermatology as well as toxicology and prevention (shared with Health and Nursing Science). The course is given a special profile by a high proportion of subject-specific chemistry and biochemistry as well as dermatological and health education content. Students studying towards a degree in Vocational Teacher Education will first study the six-semester-long degree program Bachelor of Vocational Education. You are required to combine a vocational specialization with a general education subject. Subsequently, you have to take the four-semester-long degree program Master of Vocational Education in the same subjects, for which you must (re)apply. The Master of Education degree is a prerequisite for admission to the period of school-based training called "Referendariat".
