Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.)

About the Program

The subject Historical Double Reed Instruments deals with the development as well as the playing and performance practice of woodwind and double reed instruments from the Baroque period to the present day. The program offers a wide range of lessons aimed at both major subject students in the Bachelor and Master (core subject: historical oboe) and students of related wind instruments. Individual and group lessons are supplemented by reed-making and class lessons, by the seminar Historical Aufführungspraxis für Holzbläser (Historical Performance Practice for Woodwinds), and by a wide range of chamber music and orchestral practice, for example in the BAHI Baroque Orchestra, which rehearses weekly, in the summer opera, or as part of the Tage der Alten Musik festival. The HfM Würzburg provides its students with various baroque and classical oboes as loan instruments.
