About the Program

The master's programme in economics offers an excellent method- and theory-based education. Using various approaches, you will be able to quantitatively analyze current economic issues and formulate economic policy recommendations. You can complete part of the programme at Keio University in Tokyo or at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. You will qualify for careers in national and international organisations (e.g. central banks, World Bank, IMF, OECD, federal or state ministries, NGOs), private companies, research institutions and academic research. The programme is characterised by a broad range of topics and excellent methodological and theoretical training with specialization options in Applied Econometrics, Development Economics, Environment and Sustainability, Money, Credit and Banking, and Economic Policy. The program follows an interdisciplinary approach, integrating sociological, regional science, and legal aspects. It provides you with broad knowledge that qualifies you to think interdisciplinarily and to recognize trends and overall economic developments early on. You will be able to analyze economic variables, derive formal theoretical models, and simulate them using quantitative methods. The curriculum comprises a total of 120 ECTS credits, including compulsory modules (40 credits), compulsory elective modules (30 credits), and free elective modules (30 credits). The master's thesis (20 credits) is usually written in the third to fourth semester. Special features include the possibility of a double degree with Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the option to complete a research internship.
