About the Program

The Bachelor's program 'Kriminalpolizei' with specialization in 'Cyberkriminalistik' has been offered by the Hessian University of Public Management and Security since summer semester 2021. The program aims to address the rapidly growing challenges of cybercrime and digital evidence in all police contexts. The goal of the Cyber Criminal Investigation specialization is to train criminal police officers who, in addition to classical competencies, acquire additional knowledge in computer, network and communication technology as well as other sub-disciplines of computer science and information technology. This enables them to handle digital evidence competently - from securing to forensic evaluation - and to conduct modern digital investigation work related to the Internet. The program covers topics such as digital traces, digital investigation work, information gathering from police and open sources, digital values and goods (e.g. cryptocurrencies), cybercrime in an international context, and prevention and combating possibilities. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Arts in 'Police Service-Criminal Police' with a specialization in 'Cyber Criminal Investigation' and can be deployed in all areas of the criminal police.
