Lehramt mit Bildender Kunst

Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.)

About the Program

The Kunstakademie Karlsruhe trains future teachers for the subject of Visual Arts in high schools. Like the study of Fine Arts, the teaching degree program is characterized by independent artistic work in the class and artistic-technical courses in the workshops. Additionally, seminars in theoretical subjects such as art history, art and theory, educational sciences, and art didactics are mandatory. The course of study in both specializations (painting/graphics or sculpture) is divided into a Bachelor's and subsequent Master's program. In addition to the art studies, a scientific major must be studied in parallel at a cooperating university. Alternatively, the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe offers the artistic-scientific broadening subject Intermedial Design (IMG) as a second subject. This unique partial degree program is offered in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
