About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Marine Ecosystem and Fisheries Science (Marsys) provides comprehensive qualifying theoretical foundations as well as methodological knowledge and skills in marine sciences. Students gain an overview of biodiversity in various marine areas of the world's oceans and learn to understand the basic functioning of marine food webs and the underlying biogeochemical processes. Furthermore, extensive knowledge about marine resource and ecosystem management issues, the 'rules of good scientific practice', professional and social competencies are taught. In addition, there is the possibility to acquire in-depth knowledge of certain areas of Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology or Fisheries Sciences through the selection of elective modules.
