About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Molecular Biology is scientifically oriented and provides basic education in biological and natural sciences. It focuses on a broad foundational knowledge in cell biology/genetics, microbiology/biotechnology, human biology, ecology and biodiversity, botany/zoology, animal and plant physiology, neuro and developmental biology, bioinformatics, as well as fundamentals in chemistry, physics, programming, and mathematics/biostatistics. The broad-based education in theory and practice serves as a basis for entry into our specialized Master's program in Biology in one of four specialization areas. The first four semesters with 16 basic modules, each consisting of lectures and practical courses/exercises, represent the basic studies. In the third year, biological expertise is deepened in one or two disciplines through two advanced practical courses with seminars and two modules with theoretical courses. The industrial or research internship, as well as the freely selectable non-biological subject, serve for career orientation and expansion. To complete the studies, a 9-week research activity with a written thesis - the Bachelor's thesis - is on the agenda.
