Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.)

About the Program

The bachelor's program in Music Pedagogy generally takes eight semesters. The program is based on two principles: On the one hand, there is instruction in the main performance subject throughout the entire program. On the other hand, the program of study provides basic music education skills, ranging from knowledge of music physiology to professional and subject didactics and basics of practice and teaching, to early childhood music education. This is supplemented by coursework in musicology and music theory. In the third and fourth year of study there is a choice among the following in-depth concentrations: Elementary music education, string class lessons, brass class lessons, chamber music/ensemble playing or singing with children. In addition, two electives offer interesting opportunities for deepening and expanding students' own music education and artistic skills.
