This course focuses on the principles and methods of protein purification at both laboratory and process scale. Students will learn practical processing of biomolecules and their characterization, including precipitation processes, protein crystallization, chromatography, and tangential flow filtrations. The course covers cell disruption methods, basics of chromatography, various chromatographic separation methods, process design for production scale, radial and continuous chromatography, precipitation and crystallization, filtration processes, and two-phase systems for biomolecule separation. The course includes 2 ECTS credits with 2 lecture hours per week (SWS) and concludes with a written examination.
