Bachelor German Arts & Design

Studiengang Mode-Design

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The four-year Bachelor's program in Fashion Design aims to develop students' own design position and identity. The focus of the study is project-oriented teaching characterized by an interaction between practical design work and theoretical discourse. The design work is embedded in artistic, creative, and social contexts. The study should lead to a critical understanding of fashion and its historical, sociological, and economic foundations. In addition to the classical proximity to industry, media, and marketing, the program creates interfaces with other design disciplines, science, and fine arts. Theoretical art and cultural studies seminars provide scientific foundations for art and design-relevant disciplines and prepare students for various areas of fashion work. Besides practical training, the study develops the ability to approach complex design tasks methodologically and solve them independently. In project work, free form-related experimentation in the design process is encouraged alongside conceptual and analytical work.
