About the Program

The advanced Biodiversity and Conservation master's program educates students in anatomically, conservationally, ecologically and systematically aligned sub-fields of Biology. Students are taught a broad spectrum of methodology, which includes computer modeling of complex systems in addition to classical and molecular methods, for describing and analyzing phyla and species, including their ecology and endangerment status. The program is research-oriented with the first year focused on fundamental knowledge with discipline-specific and professionally qualifying character, while the second year deepens specialized knowledge and incorporates it into a six-month master's thesis. Major topics include Conservation, Ecology, Mycology, Systematic Zoology, Evolution and Developmental Biology of Animals and Animal Physiology.
