About the Program

The Master's degree course in Business Mathematics (M.Sc.) is offered as a single-subject course by the Mathematics department. It is a consecutive Master's degree course following an undergraduate degree. It is aimed at prospective students with a relevant Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree who wish to study the theories and methods of application-oriented mathematics in conjunction with economic issues in greater depth. The integrated degree course focuses on areas of application-oriented mathematics that are also used in business. Here, students can deepen their individual interests in a mathematical specialization area. At the same time, the economics specialization area offers a broad or optional in-depth selection of modules from business administration, economics and/or survey statistics. Mathematics and economics are well-balanced in the degree program. During their studies, graduates acquire significantly more in-depth specialist knowledge in theories, procedures and methods of application-oriented mathematics as well as in-depth specialist and methodological skills in economic science, business administration, economics or survey statistics. The qualification profile is rounded off by sound key, social and personal skills acquired during the course. Possible areas of work include banks, management consultancies and the stock exchange. The proximity to Luxembourg in particular, with its strong banking and service sector, offers Trier business mathematics graduates numerous attractive international employers.
