About the Program

Solving many of today's problems requires a solid understanding of both mathematics and informatics. The Master's degree programme 'Mathematics and Computer Science' is unique in Germany as it offers students the opportunity to study this important field with equal weighting given to each discipline. The M.Sc. programme requires students to accumulate a total of 120 ECTS credits (120 CP), typically 30 credits per semester. Students earn 42 credits during the compulsory stage (30 for Master's thesis, 12 for thesis seminar) and at least 78 credits in the compulsory elective part. Graduates have excellent career prospects in fields where mathematicians and computer scientists traditionally work, including research and development, financial sector, e-commerce, automotive and mechanical engineering, medical and health sectors, pharmaceutical industry, and telecommunications.
