About the Program

The research-oriented degree program Paleontology has an excellent reputation both in Germany and abroad since all areas of paleontology are firmly anchored in both research and teaching: Invertebrate Paleontology, Vertebrate Paleontology, Micropaleontology and Paleobotany. The activities of this program are integrated into the central research theme Evolution of the Earth and of Life and linked to the other work areas of the Department of Organismic Biology and Geosciences through intensive collaboration. The degree program includes a small group of compulsory modules. Possible lines of work include applied and industrial paleontology, ministries and government offices, geological services, raw materials exploration, public relations, museums, and academia.
