Polymer Chemistry

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The Master's program in Polymer Sciences focuses on the study of polymers, which play an essential role in nearly all areas of our daily lives. These giant molecules are used in a wide range of industrial products including packaging materials, medical items, electronic components, batteries, automotive parts, paints, adhesives, textiles, and more. The program deepens knowledge from bachelor studies and expands it with polymer chemistry fundamentals. The focus is on polymer chemistry, polymer reaction technology, polymer analytics, and quality management. In the first two semesters, students deepen their knowledge through lectures, exercises, seminars, and practical laboratory work. In the 3rd semester, students choose a specialization area for an independent research project. The program concludes with a master's thesis in the 4th semester. Research areas include biopolymers, catalysis research, microreaction technology, technical and macromolecular chemistry, surface analytics, degradability and toxicity, and microplastic analytics.
