About the Program

This is an English-language, interdisciplinary, and research-oriented Master's degree program in Polymer Science jointly offered by the University of Potsdam and three Berlin universities (Free University, Humboldt University, and Technical University). The program offers interdisciplinary training in chemistry, physics, and material science to meet the broad range of demands in science and industry. The two-year program consists of 120 ECTS credit points (including thesis). The 1st year focuses on Basic Polymer Science: Polymer Chemistry/Synthesis (FU Berlin), Polymer Physics/Characterization (HU Berlin), Polymer Engineering/Processing (TU Berlin), and Polymer Properties/Colloids (U Potsdam). The 2nd year focuses on Advanced Polymer Science with in-depth courses and lab work in a special discipline at one of the four universities, followed by a Master thesis at the same university. Laboratory internships allow students to explore current research topics. Students can specialize in polymer physics, chemistry, or technology. The program prepares graduates for careers in scientific or industrial polymer-related fields, from research and development to production to consulting and administrative occupations. There is also a possibility to continue within a PhD program.
